Västernorrland

Västernorrland (“West-north-country”) may sound like a strange name for a region located on the east coast, but it is due to historical national borders. Jämtland in the west used to belong to Norway, and Finland in the east was part of Sweden. Thus, this region was situated in what was then western Sweden. Sundsvall is considered by many as Sweden’s most beautiful city, and as you continue north, you will soon pass “Höga Kusten,” an area designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It offers a nature made for memorable experiences.
