Inauguration of the West Coast Sea Week
On August 2, the start of the West Coast Sea Week takes place at Smögen. Smögenbryggan will be filled with exciting ships, fun activities and a wonderful opening. Curious about new food from the sea? What happens to the plastic and trash floating in our oceans? Just spend your day at Smögen!
Program
The top sailing schooner Kvartsita goes on tour for a cleaner sea and you are welcome on board. Meet beach cleaners, scientists and zealots! With Kvartsita also comes Havsverkstan, a workshop with experiments, exhibition, marine animals, and more. Meet a marine biologist and learn more about the Ocean. Ideal for all curious children and adults.

What does the research say? Visit a researcher at Kvartsita or at one of the west coast marine research stations. Or become a researcher for a day when you join a research vessel on an expedition.

If you are hungry for new food from the sea or want to get tips on dishes from the sea’s pantry, you should visit West Coast Sea Weeks marine food market in Fjällbacka. Here you can meet writers, producers and chefs. On August 3, the quay is filled with lots of fun activities.

And the lighthouses on the West Coast. During the entire West Coast Sea Week you can visit the island of Hållö, but there is also a unique chance to visit the island of Måseskär. Lighthouse history is offered, but also guided tours about nature and birdlife.

West Coast Sea Week is organized by the Region Västra Götaland and Region Halland together with around 100 actors. Here you meet enthusiasts and experts, scientists, marine biologists, artists and historians, sailors and land crabs. And everyone is passionate about a clean and healthy Ocean and want to show it to you!
West Coast Sea Week wants to attract people to discover the sea with all that it has to offer. This is a week you can’t miss! Welcome!
