Welcome to Gävle! Home to the world’s largest and most famous straw bock, the Gävlebocken, which adorns Slottstorget every year from the first day of Advent. In the centre of the city lies Boulognerskogen, Sweden’s largest city park and a green oasis for the people of Gävle – who, by the way, have just become over 100,000 strong. This makes Gävle a small “big” city, just 80 minutes from Stockholm.
Within walking distance, you can experience Gävle city’s shopping and restaurants where young and old can find something to suit their taste buds. There are also swimming spots, attractions and activities for the whole family. Along Gävle’s coast there are plenty of places to stop at, both from sea and land. Eat well at one of our fish restaurants, rent a bike and try our fine coastal walking and cycling trails.
